Local people. Real help. Every fortnight.
Nobody nearby should go without.
We hand out food, clothing and toiletries to 40+ vulnerable people in East London every fortnight, and help them reach the support that can change things.
What we do
The basics, given with dignity.
Most of the people we see are homeless. Some are just struggling. Everyone who comes to us leaves with something they need and someone who listened.
Food
Food and store-cupboard essentials, so nobody goes hungry.
Clothing
Warm coats, plus new socks, pants, gloves, hats and thermals.
Toiletries
Soap, toothpaste, razors and sanitary products. Small things that matter.
Get involved
Three ways to make a difference.
We're small, so every pound, every bag of donations and every pair of hands goes straight to the people we serve.
Give money
Cash lets us buy exactly what's running low. Regular gifts help us plan ahead.

To drop something off, email thewansteadcharity@gmail.com and we'll arrange it.
Give time
Help sort donations, serve on the day or spread the word. A couple of hours a fortnight goes a long way.

Started by neighbours. Still run by them.
We began as The Corner House Project, a few local people determined to do something about homelessness on our doorstep.
In 2021 we became The Wanstead Charity, a registered charitable incorporated organisation. Our trustees take no payment, and our work stretches across East London.
